2. What are the most important documents I should take to Costa Rica and should have before leaving my own country?
Basically, they are three official documents that all foreigners need in Costa Rica to be able to apply to any kind of immigration status:
- Birth Certificate

- Marriage Certificate
This documents must be original and given by the competent government institution of the country where its origin. All documents must be legalized in the Costa Rican Consulate at the country where these documents are given. 3. What is an anonymous society?
Commonly known as S.A., the anonymous society is a corporate structure that is used for performing commercial transactions, such as the purchase of property, through a legal person. We recommend this legal figure to speed up the closing process, especially in cases involving foreigners. The S.A. takes approximately 2 months to be created.
4. What are the requirements to register as an employer in the Costa Rica Social Security, and therefore enlist my employees for benefits?
- Certified copy of employer’s residency card or identification document.
- Exact address of place of work, residence of employer and worker, as well as a copy of the electric bill of all of this places and phone numbers.
- Insurance number given by the National Insurance Institute of Costa Rica.

5. Who can apply for a cell phone line in Costa Rica?

7. What are the most important documents to be able to enroll a minor in school and therefore should have before I leave my country?
Generally, schools will ask for:
- Original Report Cards of the last two years; they should be stamped and signed by the school principal as well as legalized by the Costa Rica Consulate in the state where the school is located.
- Vaccination Certificate of minor
- Original academic degrees for preschool, elementary, middle school.

8. How long can I drive a car or motorcycle in Costa Rica with my foreign license?
A foreign license is only valid for three months once in Costa Rica. After this time, it is necessary to apply for the recognition of license process. The most important requirement is that the foreign license must be still valid and in good shape.
9. Is it better to buy a car in Costa Rica or bring it from my country?
In Costa Rica, taxes for importing a vehicle are expensive and most of the time it is cheaper to buy a vehicle in Costa Rica. It is necessary to calculate each individual case regarding the vehicles specification.
In this moment, there is an act that must be approved by Congress in any time that prohibits the importation of vehicles with more than five years in the market.
